MAIN will have
benefits for China and
Europe,
as it creates a forum for the transfer
of knowledge,
know how and technology from Europe to China, as well as the sharing of good
practice. Over the past 10 years a series of R&D programmes in Europe
has led to the development of extensive experience in establishing sustainable
transport policies and services in urban areas; this knowledge is extremely
important for China as it experiencing a large growth in urban population.
The
transfer of knowledge within MAIN is expected to make significant contributions
to sustainable development of transport systems and services; in turn, it
will contribute to sustainable socio-economic development and to improving
environmental quality, for one of the largest economies in the world.
